When did you adopt a plant-based diet and why did you do it?

I was struggling with headaches, constipation and blood reports showed high cholesterol back in 2015.  I was a conscious eater, but the blood reports were an alarm for me.  I felt something was not right. I started working even harder to lose weight, but it was not showing the results that I wanted to see. In August 2017, I decided to change my diet. I started meeting people to learn about the plant-based lifestyle, read about it and consulted nature cure practitioners and that’s when I understood the power of this diet. My friends and family started talking about my weight-loss. It was like a euphoric moment for me. I felt a spark to spread this message and started KuKClean.

What does your typical diet entail?

I am a natural hygiene follower, my diet is personally focused on nourishing and cleansing my body as well as mind. My typical breakfast is a mono-fruit meal that provides the required vitamins and minerals for the day. Lunch is usually a hearty vegetable salad. Dinner is a cooked Indian meal that is prepared by following a conservative cooking method so that micro-nutrients of the food are not lost. Overall, I follow a plant-based vegan lifestyle. I prefer minimally processed, home-made, plant-based foods to keep me going.

What surprised you the most as you were transitioning?

Milk, cottage cheese, curd and everything dairy which I have been consuming most of my life. All my weight-loss efforts failed despite regularly working out. The day I left dairy and started moving toward a plant-based diet, weight loss was the first thing that showed results followed by other health issues that got resolved.

What advice do you have for someone wanting to take control of their health?

I just remember one thing “We are not what we eat but what we digest” So eat what you can digest. There is a beautiful story which my Guruji, told me which is to be a:

  • Hitabhuk: only eat congenial food (which helps the body and is not harmful)
  • Mitabhuk: never eat in excess or when not hungry
  • Ritabhuk: only eat seasonal foods

If these 3 points are taken care of, you will always be happy and healthy.
